Fran Rooney is a well-known Irish businessman who rose to prominence as the CEO of cyber security firm Baltimore Technologies. Under his stewardship the Irish company became a global player with 23 offices in cities across the world, was listed on both NASDAQ and the London Stock Exchange (listed on FTSE 100) with a market capitalisation of €13.6 billion, and had 1400 employees. Baltimore Technologies was twice named Ireland’s Company of the Year. Fran was also presented with the 2000 Businessman of the Year by the President of Ireland and 2001 Entrepreneur of the Year by the Bank of Ireland. Rooney is a serial entrepreneur, has a number of roles with other blockchain companies and was CEO of the Football Association of Ireland in 2003/2004. Rooney is currently a practicing Barrister at Law in Bar Council of Ireland and has been active in the blockchain space for the past 18 months, holding chairs in a number of Irish and UK blockchain companies.
